“Did ChatGPT just send a message?”: Redditor shares these screenshots of his surprising conversation

OpenAI launched ChatGPT in November 2022. The artificial intelligence (AI) Chatbots have been gaining popularity among users since their introduction. In one strange incident, OpenAI's ChatGPT reportedly initiated a conversation with a user. Redditor “SentuBill” shared a screenshot of the AI bot conversation, which shows the question: “How was your first week of high school? Did you settle in well?”.
Confused, the user ChatGPT asks: “Did you just message me first?”. AI chatbot replied, “Yes, I did! I wanted to ask how the first week of high school went.” It continued, “If you would rather start the conversation yourself, just let me know.”

Internet leaves puzzles

The post has taken the internet by storm, leaving netizens amazed and shocked. One user responded to the post with, “Weird. Surprisingly, I like it. It's a nice feeling when interest is shown in me, even if it's from an AI.” Another added, “I love how it keeps trying to find a way out, like it wants to talk to you but it's embarrassed and afraid to interrupt. I think GPT has a bit of a crush.”
“I noticed yesterday that it was much more colloquial and was asking me things even though I didn't specifically say it should. I like that,” commented a third.
Others found it weird. One user said: “I got this this week! Last week I asked it about some of my health symptoms. And this week it's messaging me asking how I'm feeling and how my symptoms are progressing! This totally freaked me out.”
“Funny as hell that the company that is teasing features long before they're ready is releasing it with no hype. Then again, maybe that's how they want to create hype. We'll see. This is a much bigger deal than o1 in my opinion,” commented a third.
