Emmy fans outraged after Shelley Duvall is absent from “In Memoriam”

In the “In Memoriam” segment of the 2024 Emmys, this beloved star may have been forgotten, but her legacy lives on.

During the awards ceremony on September 15 at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles, the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences took the time to honor members of the television industry who died last year, including Shannen Doherty, Robert NewhartAnd Gena Rowlandsamong other things.

However, viewers pointed out Shelley Duval—who died in July at the age of 75—was not among those present during the segment that featured an appearance by Swiss roll.

“How could Shelley Duvall not make it into this segment?? #Emmys,” asked one X-user, while another wondered, “How could they forget Shelley Duvall?!”

Others speculated that Shelley – who received an Emmy nomination for Best Animated Program in 1992 for her children’s series – Shelley Duvall's Bedtime Storiesand appeared in television shows, including Maggie Winters, Fairytale Theatre And Frasier –may have been omitted as she is best known for her film roles, including The Shining – The Wonderful World of Madness, Popeye, 3 women And The Urban Neurotic.
