Low chance of rain, cooler start to the coming week – WSOC TV

FORECAST:

  • The low pressure system that we have been talking about for days and that we expect to form off the southeast coast is slowly doing just that.
  • It could take on more tropical characteristics before making landfall on the North Carolina-South Carolina border Monday evening/night and then moving into Virginia. Regardless, it will likely bring a lot of moisture and be slow-moving.
  • Locally, the heaviest and most persistent rainfall is expected to begin on Monday afternoon and ease during the course of Tuesday.
  • Gusty north-northeast winds at 35 miles per hour will be blowing at times, so localized power outages may occur Monday afternoon through Tuesday.
  • Charlotte is expected to see 1-3 inches of rain, less to the west, and northeastern and eastern counties toward the coast could easily see double the amount of rain. Once we get past that, the rest of the week will be relatively uneventful.
