Two weekend crashes in Beaverhead County leave three dead | Butte News

It was a busy weekend for the Montana Highway Patrol in Beaverhead County, with two car crashes that left three people dead.



BEAVERHEAD COUNTY, Montana – The Montana Highway Patrol had a busy weekend in Beaverhead County with two car crashes that left three people dead.

The first accident occurred near Wisdom on Friday, September 13. According to MHP, a 24-year-old Potomac man was driving a Toyota RAV4 on Highway 43 just before 2 p.m.

According to a press release from MHP, the car veered off the road to the right at mile 33 and over-steered back onto the road. The driver continued to correct with over-steering before veering off the road again and rolling over. The car eventually landed on its roof and the driver was ejected from the car and pronounced dead at the scene.

MHP does not currently know if he was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident. MHP did not indicate that drugs, alcohol or speed played a role in this accident.

The second fatal two-vehicle crash occurred shortly after 9:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 14, near Fishtrap, also on Highway 43.

According to MHP, a Ford F-150 was traveling westbound when it crossed the centerline on a curve at mile marker 41. The Ford collided head-on with an eastbound Toyota Tundra, killing both drivers, according to MHP.

Both trucks in this accident were fully engulfed in flames and MHP has not yet identified either driver. They are still investigating this accident but suspect that both alcohol and speed played a role in this fatal crash.
