Four-vehicle crash in Draper causes major traffic jam on I-15

DRAPER, Utah – A baby is in critical condition following a crash Sunday evening on I-15 that closed northbound lanes.

According to the Utah Highway Patrol, the first accident near 12300 South in Draper set off a chain reaction that involved three more vehicles.

UHP said the first car, with two adults and two children on board, skidded because it was traveling too fast for the wet road, according to the initial investigation. The car then struck a wall. One of the children, a toddler, is said to be in critical condition.

A motorcyclist then put down his motorcycle to avoid the first accident.

A Sprinter then tried to avoid the first car, but collided with it.

A fourth vehicle also got out of control and crashed into the wall in the same place.

According to the UHP, no fatalities were reported as of 10 p.m.

Apart from the toddler, whose condition is critical, it was not initially known how serious the injuries of the other people involved in the accident were.
