Tempers ran high in the third quarter of the game between the Chicago Bears and the Houston Texans on Sunday night.

After quarterback Caleb Williams was thrown to the ball by Texans linebacker Azeez Al-Shaair while trying to get out of the field, a scrum broke out between the Bears players, who took offense at the hit and at Al-Shaair.

As Al-Shaair got up from the ground, he struck the Bears' Roschon Johnson, who was on the sidelines but did not play the game.

When Al-Shaair tackled Williams, no foul was called, nor was any penalty assessed after the game despite all the extracurricular activities on the sidelines.

The game was already pretty exciting before the incident. The Bears and Texans engaged in an intense defensive battle in the second half as both teams looked to remain undefeated. Houston and Chicago scored field goals in the first quarter, with the Texans building a 10-point lead to a 13-3 lead. The Bears scored late in the first half, but Houston answered with a field goal to make the halftime score 16-10.

The third quarter saw hardly any offense, but nine penalties and a lot of emotions that boiled over when Al-Shaair struck.

Sunday's game is the only meeting between the Bears and Texans this season, but it was not lacking in drama. The two teams will likely remember how their meeting turned out in 2024, and that could make for an interesting rivalry in the future.
