Motown legend and member of the Jackson 5 died at 70

The music world mourns the loss of a Motown legend and member of the Jackson 5. According to the Associated Press, Tito Jackson has died at the age of 70.

In total, there were nine Jackson children, including Michael and Janet. Tito was the third oldest.

“It is with heavy hearts that we announce that our beloved father, Rock & Roll Hall of Famer Tito Jackson, is no longer with us,” his sons TJ, Taj and Taryll said in a statement on Instagram. “We are shocked, saddened and heartbroken. Our father was an incredible man who cared about everyone and their well-being.”

The Jacksons grew up in Gary, Indiana. They signed with Barry Gordy and Motown and had numerous chart-topping hits in the 1970s, including “I Want You Back,” “ABC,” and “I'll Be There.”

Tito, Jackie, Jermaine, Marlon and Michael were inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 1997.

Tito Jackson is survived by his brothers Jermaine, Randy, Marlon and Jackie, his sisters Janet, Rebbie and La Toya, and their mother Katherine. Their father died in 2018. Michael died in 2009.
