Catawba County deputy injured in accident on emergency call – WSOC TV

CATAWBA COUNTY, NC – A Catawba County Sheriff’s Office officer was injured in an accident while responding to an emergency call.

The incident at the Goldmine General Store on Sherrills Ford Road was captured on surveillance video.

Officials said the deputy, while responding to a call, had to swerve to avoid hitting another vehicle.

The officer then lost control of his SUV and collided with another car in front of the store.

According to the sheriff's office, they were taken to a nearby hospital for treatment before being released.

Channel 9's Dave Faherty spoke to store employees about the incident.

“The other car pulled out in front of him. In my opinion, it's not his fault, but this kind of thing happens every day, so I'm just thankful no one was hurt,” said one employee.

The Catawba County Sheriff's Office said the accident is being investigated by the North Carolina State Patrol. It is unclear whether charges will be filed.
