Apple released the latest version of its iPhone operating system, iOS 18, on Monday, and with it comes new features for Messages, the Home screen and Control Centers, and finally Apple Intelligence, its AI functionality.

The release in the United States occurred on Monday, September 16 at 1:00 p.m. ET (10:00 a.m. PT).

CNBC reported that iOS 18 is available for all iPhones released in 2018 or later.

New features in Apple's iOS 18 include the “biggest design update ever” for photos, more customization options for layouts, new messaging and email features, and a new passwords app.

When will Apple Intelligence be released?

According to Apple, the iPhone 16, iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max models will have access to Apple Intelligence in beta this fall.

How do I download iOS 18?

Your phone may download iOS 18 automatically if the following setting is enabled:

• Settings —> General —> Software Update —> Automatic Updates —> iOS Updates

If you want to force a download manually:

• Select Update under Settings —> General —> Software Update on your iPhone
