Knicks sign Exhibit 9 contract with Marcus Morris, experienced forward returns to New York

Marcus Morris is back in New York. The Knicks announced Sunday night that they have signed the veteran forward to an Exhibit 9 contract.

Morris, 35, spent most of the 2019-20 season with the Knicks, averaging a career-high 19.6 points in 43 games and adding 5.0 rebounds and 1.4 assists in 32.3 minutes.

New York traded Morris to the Los Angeles Clippers in a three-way trade on February 6, 2020, receiving striker Maurice HarklessThe trade also gave the Knicks a 2020 first-round pick and trade rights for the Clippers' 2021 first-round pick and a 2021 second-round pick via the Detroit Pistons.

Morris most recently played for the Philadelphia 76ers and Cleveland Cavaliers in the 2023/24 season. In 49 games (seven starts), he averaged 6.4 points and 2.7 rebounds in 16.7 minutes.

Shortly after the Knicks announced the Morris deal, Ian Begley reported that “NYK views him as a 4/5 player with a bright future at this stage of his career” and that he “has a real chance” to make the regular season roster.
