Man charged with drunk driving in hit-and-run in northwest Lincoln

LINCOLN, Nebraska (KLKN) – A man was arrested early Monday morning following a hit-and-run crash in northwest Lincoln, police said.

At around 1 a.m., officers were dispatched to Northwest 55th Street and West St. Paul Avenue.

The caller heard a loud noise outside and checked her Ring doorbell video, which showed a silver truck ramming two other vehicles before leaving the area.

One of the vehicles, a 2024 Ford Escape, was totaled in the accident. The other vehicle sustained $6,000 in damage, according to LPD.

About 10 minutes later, officers responded to the incident at the Burlington Northern Railroad on West O Street when a silver truck became stuck on the tracks, police said.

According to police, the truck blocked a railroad crossing, which forced two tracks to be closed and caused delays in normal rail operations.

The driver, a 33-year-old man, “showed signs of impairment,” police said. His blood alcohol level was found to be 0.137 per mille.

The man was arrested on suspicion of drunk driving and resisting arrest. He was also charged with several other offenses, including driving while license suspended.
