Forest fire in Colorado, Crystal Lakes | News, updates, evacuations

Mandatory evacuations have been ordered for Crystal Lakes, south of Black Mountain and north of Lake Erie.

LARIMER COUNTY, Colorado – The Larimer County Sheriff's Office has ordered a mandatory evacuation due to a new wildfire that broke out near Crystal Lakes Monday morning. In a post on social media platform X, the Sheriff's Office is calling it the Pearl Fire.

Mandatory evacuations:

  • Crystal Lakes, south of Black Mountain and north of Lake Erie.
  • Almost to Highway 14 (Poudre Canyon Road) on the south side of Black Mountain and west toward County Road 103.
  • North of Black Mountain to the Wyoming state line.

Residents are told to evacuate immediately.

Voluntary evacuations:

  • The area of ​​Lake Erie and Mitchell Ditch.

Residents of voluntary evacuation zones are being asked to pack their belongings and prepare to leave.

An evacuation center is available at the Livermore Community Hall, 2044 W County Rd 74E.

The sheriff's office said several local emergency responders had been responding to the fire since 1 p.m. and that air support had been requested.

At around 11:30 a.m., the Larimer County Sheriff's Office said in a post on social media platform X that it had received reports of a plume of smoke in the Crystal Lakes area and that firefighters were responding.
