Shootings in Danville over the weekend: One arrest was made, another was sought for information

Teenager taken to hospital with suspected gunshot wound

Danville police officers responded to a shooting victim at OSF Sacred Heart Emergency Room around 3 a.m. Saturday morning.
When officers arrived, they learned that the victim was a minor child who had been brought to the hospital by his mother. The minor child was treated for non-life-threatening injuries and released the same day.

During further investigations, investigators came to the conclusion that the mother, 34-year-old Morgan Nelson of Danville, had to be arrested for illegal use of weapons and endangering the life and health of a child.

The Department of Children's Family Services assisted DPD with the incident to ensure the safety of the juvenile.

Two people found with gunshot wounds

Danville Police officers responded to the 1000 block of Moore Street around midnight on Saturday morning, 9/14/24, and found two gunshot victims lying in a yard. A 31-year-old man and a 28-year-old woman were injured in a shooting in that area. Both individuals were transported to area hospitals for treatment.

The man has been released from the hospital and the woman is still there but in stable condition. Danville Police are asking for any information that can be provided to assist in this investigation. Little is known at this time and investigators are working to find out more.
