Jane's Addiction will not play at Sandy Amphitheater after an onstage brawl in Boston

Ticket holders for the upcoming Jane's Addiction concert at the Sandy Amphitheater are out of luck – as are all ticket holders for the rest of the alternative icons' reunion tour after a brawl broke out on stage between band members at their last show in Boston.

Concertgoers at Friday's show captured video of Perry Farrell punching Dave Navarro onstage while crew rushed out to restrain the lead singer as he apparently tried to attack the band's guitarist.

The video was shared online by Farrell's wife Etty.

According to her Instagram post, there was “a lot of tension and animosity” between the band members, which she said was one of the main reasons for the appeal of “Jane's Addiction.”

“So the dynamite went off,” Etty posted. “Perry jumped right into Dave's face and blocked him with the body armor.”

The whole thing happened when the band was just finishing their eleventh song.

According to Etty:

Perry's frustration grew night by night. He felt that the volume on stage was extremely loud and his voice was being drowned out by the band. Perry suffered from tinnitus and a sore throat every night. But when the audience in the front row started complaining to Perry and yelling at him that the band was too loud and they couldn't hear him, Perry lost it.

After the brawl, the band apologized in a now-expired Instagram story, announced the cancellation of their upcoming show in Hartford, Connecticut, and informed about the refund of the money.

On Monday, the band released a statement officially canceling the remainder of the tour.

For those who held tickets to the outdoor Sandy Amphitheater (where ticket sales are final in all cases – even in the event of inclement weather – except in the event of cancellation of a show by the artist), there was no dedicated section on the website to request the rarely granted refunds.

The website simply states:

NO REFUNDS. There are no refunds or exchanges. Refunds will only be given if an event is cancelled.

Ticketmaster, the authorized online ticket seller for Sandy Amphitheater, has a little clearer refund information.

According to the venue's Ticketmaster information page, ticket buyers will receive the information via the email address they used when purchasing the tickets:

Refund Policy – We have a no refund policy – If an artist needs to cancel, postpone or change an event, all ticket holders will receive an email notification with detailed information and options.

KUTV 2News has reached out to the venue for more information on whether ticket holders will need to take action themselves or if refunds will be automatic. There has been no response to the message at the time of publication of this article.

KUTV also inquired about third-party sellers and the options people have who didn't purchase their tickets through Ticketmaster or at the amphitheater's box office, but according to the venue's ticketing policy, those fans could be out the cost.

According to the Authorized Ticket Sales Locations section of the Sandy Amphitheater’s policy page:

  • Both Sandy City and Postfontaine sell tickets through Ticketmaster. Tickets for the Sandy Amphitheater are sold only through Ticketmaster. Ticketmaster is the only authorized online ticketing platform for shows at the amphitheater.
  • Tickets sold through third parties (ticket agencies, resellers, etc.) are usually much more expensive than the original ticket prices. Sandy Amphitheater is not responsible for tickets purchased through unauthorized third parties.
  • We cannot prevent unauthorized third parties from purchasing tickets and reselling them at significantly higher prices. Never purchase from an unauthorized ticket seller.
  • Please note that tickets sold through third-party sellers may be counterfeit and overpriced. If these tickets are counterfeit, you will not be granted entry to the venue.

If a seller is unavailable for a refund, fans will have to walk through the doors without a ticket – but they will have to pay for it.
