Jane's Addiction cancels reunion tour after argument on stage

Jane's Addiction hasn't toured for 14 years, and now the band's reunion tour has been canceled after lead singer Perry Farrell got into an argument with lead guitarist Dave Navarro during a show in Boston. The year is 2024, so of course the argument was caught on video.

In the band's official statement, the cancellation was announced with the emphasis that they wanted to take “some time off as a group” and hope that Farrell “finds the help he needs.” In the joint statement, Navarro, bassist Eric Avery and drummer Stephen Perkins cited these issues as reasons why the tour could not continue.

Navarro was even more explicit in his own statement. “Due to a persistent pattern of behavior and the mental health issues of our singer Perry Farrell, we have come to the conclusion that we have no choice but to cancel the current US tour,” he said. “Our concern for his personal health and safety, as well as our own, leaves us with no alternative.”

The tour began in August and was scheduled to end in October. Due to the popularity of the tour, the band had actually added extra dates, and now a total of 15 shows have been canceled, so if you had tickets to their shows in cities like Toronto, Milwaukee, Chicago, Denver, Seattle, San Francisco, or Los Angeles, to name a few, you should probably be getting a refund soon. The tour included 17 shows before the band imploded.

Initially, the band announced in the wake of the dispute that they had only canceled a Sunday show in Connecticut. But after the dispute, all of the band members flew across the country in different directions and Navarro posted a picture of himself with the band's logo on Instagram and simply wrote “Goodnight.”

Farrell's wife, Etty Lau Farrell, said her husband was annoyed by a number of problems, including sound issues, tinnitus complaints and unplanned changes during the performance. The onstage altercation began during the band's performance of the song “Ocean Size,” with Farrell beginning to grunt at the audience and then turning to Navarro. Farrell shoulder-rammed Navarro, who was playing a guitar solo, and then punched him. The tour has now been canceled and who knows what will happen to the new music the band has been working on.
