Dolphins HC Mike McDaniel says team is not ready to make IR decision on Tua Tagovailoa

“He felt good. But what does that mean for a medical diagnosis?” McDaniel told reporters. “I don't necessarily make my judgments based on my interactions with him, but more on the final results of the medical exam and his condition. It was good to see him. I know his teammates were excited to see him.”

NFL Network insider Ian Rapoport reported Sunday that Tagovailoa currently has no plans to retire and that he has already begun consulting with concussion specialists.

McDaniel declined to speculate on how Tagovailoa's recent concussion (his third diagnosed since the start of the 2022 season) might impact decisions about his career.

“I think it's a top priority for me to have Tua talk about his career,” McDaniel said. “I think reports are reports. I think as far as I'm concerned, I'm just worried about the man. I think I'm going to let Tua be the champion of his own career and talk about it.”

With Tagovailoa's status unclear, the Dolphins strengthened their quarterback team on Monday, signing experienced Tyler Huntley from the Ravens' practice squad.
