Alexa Minton's forecast | Tracking another round of tropical rains

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) – Monday's clouds will develop overnight into a rainy Tuesday. Monday will start calm and cool – temperatures will be mostly in the 15s early in the morning hours. A healthy mix of sun and clouds as our skies remain dry throughout the day – temperatures will rise to 27 to 29 degrees, with some areas reaching highs of 30 degrees by late afternoon. Clouds will move in from parts of the east – some areas of eastern Kentucky will see rain later tonight.

We're keeping an eye on a tropical system that will develop into a tropical storm and move inland — in reverse east-west direction and toward Kentucky. For now, we're continuing to track the majority of precipitation affecting our easternmost counties — with the system rotating the rainbands east of the state. You can expect continued precipitation Tuesday into Wednesday as tropical downpours move across our skies. Heavy rains should be a particular concern for Eastern Kentucky. Keep your umbrella handy this week — even if not everyone will experience showers!

Have a nice Monday! Enjoy the sunshine!
