Man allegedly dragged teenager into apartment in Aurora

The girl managed to escape and return to her family, who called the police.

AURORA, Colorado – A man was arrested on kidnapping and other charges after police say he forcibly entered a 14-year-old girl's apartment and then groped her as she fled and walked home, Aurora police said.

Police said it happened around 7:30 a.m. Sunday at an apartment complex on Potomac Street south of Sixth Avenue. The suspect, 37-year-old Jhon Balestrini Ferrer, was arrested on charges of enticement of a child, sexual assault of a child and kidnapping, according to police.

According to an affidavit from an Aurora police officer, the girl was walking toward her apartment building when she saw three men standing outside in the hallway. Two of the men made sexual advances to the girl, the affidavit states.

As the girl walked up the stairs, the affidavit states, one of the men, later identified as Balestrini Ferrer, grabbed her wrist and pulled her toward his apartment, which was in a neighboring building. The girl told police the man dragged her into his apartment. She tried to get away, but he overpowered her, the affidavit states. Once inside the apartment, she was able to push the man away and leave.

As she was walking back to her apartment, the girl noticed Balestrini Ferrer and another man following her, according to the affidavit. At some point, as she was trying to get home, Balestrini Ferrer groped her, the affidavit states.

When the girl returned home, her family reported the situation to Aurora police. Officers arrested the suspect a short time later, the affidavit states.

Balestrini Ferrer's next court date is scheduled for Thursday morning.
