Tom Brady's stance on returning to the Dolphins after Tua Tagovailoa's recent concussion revealed

The Dolphins will replace Tua Tagovailoa on short notice after the quarterback suffered the third official concussion of his career – but the next man in line will not be Tom Brady.

That's the opinion of ESPN's Adam Schefter, who was quick to dismiss the notion that Miami might try to lure Brady out of retirement because the timing of Tagovailoa's injury is unclear.

“I know a lot of people have suggested bringing Tom Brady out of retirement – that's not going to happen,” Schefter said on Sunday NFL Countdown.

Tagovailoa left the Dolphins' game against the Bills on Thursday after hitting his head on Damar Hamlin's chest. There is currently no timetable for his return.

Some have even suggested that the quarterback should retire, as he also suffered at least two concussions two seasons ago (many believe he also showed signs of a concussion in another 2022 game against the Bills).

However, Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network stated that Tagovailoa “has no plans to end his career” and is meeting with concussion specialists.

Notably, the Dolphins attempted to recruit Brady to South Beach beginning in the 2019 season, and according to an NFL investigation, there were further contacts in 2021.

However, that plan fell through when former Miami coach Brian Flores accused the team of pressuring him to fix games and intentionally lose, prompting an investigation by the NFL.

The Dolphins were later stripped of a 2023 first-round pick and a 2024 third-round pick after the NFL determined the team had “improper communications” with Brady when he was a member of the Patriots and later the Bucs.

The Dolphins signed Tyler Huntley from the Ravens' practice squad on Monday, and Skylar Thompson is expected to be in the starting lineup this weekend.

Some have suggested that the team should sign free agent Ryan Tannehill, who spent the first six years of his career in Miami and scored 216 passing touchdowns in his career.

Of course, Tagovailoa could also return relatively soon.

But one thing seems certain: Brady will not play quarterback for Miami.
