Modesto middle school student arrested after making threats

A student at a Modesto middle school was arrested Monday after other students overheard him threatening to commit a shooting during the school day, police said. When officers arrested the student, several narcotics were also found in the home. This is the second arrest in Modesto related to school shooting threats in a single day. Modesto police said the suspect is a student at Hanshaw Middle School. Officers said the students involved reported the threats to their parents, who reported them to police on Sunday night. On Monday, the male student accused of making the threats was not at school. Officers then went to the student's home and took him into custody. While at the home, officers found suspected narcotics and other evidence suggesting the sale of narcotics. An adult male, who is not related to the student, was arrested for that offense. Police said the student was booked into the Stanislaus County Juvenile Detention Center.
