New Canaan High School mourns sudden death of 12th grader

Elliott Kropf, a 12th grader at New Canaan High School, died Saturday evening, September 14.

“Elliott was a good student, an excellent athlete, a kind young man and a wonderful friend. He will be sorely missed by all who knew and loved him,” New Canaan Public Schools Superintendent Bryan Luizzi said in a statement Sunday, Sept. 15.

There will be a two-hour delay at New Canaan High School on Monday, September 16.

“All buses will run at regular times and the NCHS school schedule will begin at 10 a.m.,” Luizzi said. “This will give Elliott's friends the opportunity to gather in mutual support and love and, if desired, to speak with our dedicated counselors and staff.”

Details about the circumstances of his death have not yet been disclosed.

Kropf was an outstanding player on the Rams hockey team.

“My heart breaks for Elliott, his family and all who knew and loved him,” Luizzi said. “Let us all think and pray for them together as we support one another during this difficult time.”
