One dead in fatal accident involving Dr Phillips

One person was killed in a fatal accident that occurred at 6:23 a.m. on Tuesday, September 17, at Dr. Phillips Boulevard and Craindale Drive in the Dr. Phillips area.

Florida Highway Patrol officers are on scene and preliminary findings indicate that a 2016 BMW 650I was involved in the accident. The 23-year-old driver is still under suspicion and is being identified.

According to an FHP report, the vehicle was traveling northbound in the inside lane on Dr. Phillips Boulevard approaching Craindale Drive when the driver failed to negotiate a left turn and veered off the roadway to the right.

As a result, the driver collided with a power pole. The impact caused the vehicle to roll over and collide with another power pole.

The driver was thrown from the vehicle.

The driver was taken to Orlando Health Dr. P. Phillips Hospital and pronounced dead.

There is currently a road closure in the northbound lanes of Dr. Phillips Boulevard.

The crash is currently still under investigation.
