Jaycee Horn and Panthers players boo Carolina fans after Week 2 disaster

The Carolina Panthers were already bad, but in Week 2 against the Los Angeles Chargers they somehow managed to get even worse. The Panthers were thrashed 26-3 in their home opener, and the result was so depressing that it shattered fans' faith in Bryce Young.

To make matters worse, several of the team's vaunted defensive players were done for. Cornerback Jaycee Horn had to face maligned Chargers receiver Quentin Johnston for much of the first half, and Johnston found the end zone twice despite Horn lining up against him.

Horn was booed mercilessly off the field for most of the game as Panthers fans were fed up with the pathetic product on the field. The fans were absolutely right to vent their frustrations and Horn let them know he didn't appreciate it very much.

Horn called the boos after the loss “kind of frustrating.” Although Horn said he tries to tune out the negative reactions from fans, he wasn't a fan of them booing young players who are just learning how to win or free agents who have just arrived. Still, Horn needs to take his medicine after one of the worst games of his career.

Offensive player Austin Corbett echoed Horn's criticism, asking fans to be patient and explaining that Carolina's grand plan for success cannot be accomplished in one day. After performances like today, these players should expect serious criticism.

After Corbett raised his voice, offensive guard Robert Hunt also condemned the boos and said he still believes Bryce Young is the right quarterback for this team. To put it generously, Hunt has more faith in Young than most.

The Panthers are in such a depressing state that it's hard to pinpoint a root cause for their weakness. Nobody is doing their job, so there will be no quick fix. The games will continue like this until morale improves or a miracle happens, which may be the only thing that can fix them.

While Horn and the rest of the Panthers are not solely responsible, each of them bears some of the blame for the chaos that unfolded in Carolina, and it's safe to assume that fans will be very vocal as the losses continue to pile up for Dave Canales.
