Man allegedly shot victim after argument in Florence County liquor store

FLORENCE COUNTY, SC (WMBF) – A man is behind bars after police say he opened fire outside a liquor store last week.

The Florence County Sheriff's Office said 26-year-old Saquwan Capehart was arrested Monday and charged with attempted murder, discharging a firearm into a dwelling, pointing and displaying a firearm and possession of a weapon during a violent crime.

The sheriff's office said officers responded to reports of a shooting on Sept. 13 at 302 South Jeffords Street in Florence. An internet search revealed the address to be JP Liquors.

FCSO investigators said Capehart pulled out a gun after a verbal and physical altercation inside the store. Capehart is then accused of shooting the victim as he turned to run out of the store.

The sheriff's office said the victim was treated for a gunshot wound.

As of Tuesday, records show Capehart is being held without bail at the Florence County Detention Center.
