Man allegedly robbed victim at fork in front of Little Havana Publix

MIAMI – Police said a man used a “long barbecue fork” as a weapon to rob another man outside a Publix in the heart of Miami's Little Havana neighborhood Monday afternoon, leading to his arrest.

Authorities said the armed robbery occurred shortly after 3:15 p.m. at a bus stop next to the Publix Super Market in Altos Plaza at 121 SW 22nd Ave.

An arrest report states that Kevin Green, 40, demanded the man's belongings at the fork, saying the victim gave him a watch, a ring and “a Publix bag with cereal and soda.”

According to police, Green ran to a motorcycle dealership across the street and was arrested by police who were called to the scene after the robbery.

The report states that Green still had the barbecue fork with him and was later “unable to be questioned.”

Green, who is homeless, has been held at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center since Tuesday afternoon. He is accused of first-degree armed robbery.

His bail was listed as “to be determined” in online jail records.
