SHERIFF INCIDENT REPORT | State News

According to reports from the Dent County Sheriff’s Department:

• Officers conducted a traffic stop on South Highway 19 and County Road 5083 on September 6. During the stop, the driver, a 41-year-old Newburg man, was found to be in possession of a controlled substance and had a suspended license. The suspect was taken into custody and the case was resolved by arrest.

• Officers conducted a traffic stop in the 3200 block of S. Highway 19 on September 9. During the stop, it was determined that the driver, a 38-year-old Salem man, had a suspended license. The suspect was arrested and transported to the Dent County Jail for further processing.

• Officers responded to a report of property damage on County Road 6250 on Sept. 10. The victim, a 72-year-old Salem man, reported that an unknown suspect shot one of his cows. The investigation is ongoing.

• Officers conducted a traffic stop on Sept. 10 at Highway 32 and S. Hickory St. A consensual search of the vehicle resulted in contraband being located. The suspect, a 44-year-old Salem man, was arrested and taken to the Dent County Jail.
