Dominic Calvert-Lewin, who has scored two goals in his last two games for Everton, is not in the squad for tonight's match against Southampton in the Carabao Cup as Blues head coach Sean Dyche gives 17-year-old Liverpool player Harrison Armstrong his first starting place. Armstrong's selection is one of eight changes since Saturday's 3-2 defeat at Aston Villa.

Vitalii Mykolenko was forced off in the West Midlands due to what Dyche described as illness. Calvert-Lewin, who was also last season's top scorer, was also injured. He will miss the game against the Saints but will hope to be back for Saturday's showdown at Leicester City. The Everton manager confirmed that three players are missing through illness: James Tarkowski, James Garner and Idrissa Gueye are also out.

Unlike last season's Carabao Cup matches and the previous round against Doncaster Rovers, Joao Virginia starts in goal while first choice Jordan Pickford sits on the bench alongside Asmir Begovic.

Jake O'Brien, who started against the South Yorkshire side and made his Premier League debut on Saturday, will play alongside Michael Keane in defence, while Roman Dixon, who made his Tottenham Hotspur debut, will play at right-back. Despite scoring a goal on Saturday and creating more big chances than any other player in the Premier League this season, it looks like Dwight McNeil will have to play at left-back.
