Motorcycle crash in Worcester County claims life of Pennsylvania man

WHALEYVILLE, Maryland – Maryland State Police are investigating a motorcycle crash that killed a Pennsylvania man in Worcester County Saturday evening.

According to police, the crash occurred just before 5:30 p.m. in the area of ​​Route 50 westbound and Hall Road. Police said the crash involved two motorcycles, and preliminary investigations revealed that a BMW motorcycle driven by a Pennsylvania man was passing a vehicle on Route 50 when it lost control for unknown reasons and struck a railing. This reportedly caused another BMW motorcycle traveling with the victim to lose control.

The victim was identified as 40-year-old Jason Irizarry of Dover, Pennsylvania. He was taken by ambulance to TidalHealth Peninsula Regional and later transferred to ChristianaCare Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The driver of the motorcycle involved in the crash was identified as 49-year-old Andrew Strube of Columbia, Pennsylvania. He was taken by ambulance to TidalHealth Peninsula Regional for treatment of his injuries.

After the accident, all lanes of Route 50 were closed for about four hours.
