Real Madrid vs Stuttgart – Action from the Santiago Bernabeu as Kylian Mbappe scores on his Champions League debut for Madrid

MBAPPE KICKS GOAL: MADRID HAS TROUBLE WITH STUTTGART

Kylian Mbappe celebrated his Champions League debut for his new club with a goal and a win as Real Madrid narrowly beat Stuttgart 3-1 at the Bernabeu.

The Frenchman scored in the first minute of the second half when he headed home a cross from Rodrygo, but his opening goal was cancelled out by a header from Deniz Undav in the 68th minute.

It seemed as though the Germans would leave the Spanish capital with a deserved point to start their league season, but one of their former youth prodigies, Antonio Rüdiger, dealt them a cruel blow when he leapt highest to fire home a Luka Modrić corner with seven minutes left.

In the final minutes, Endrick came on as a substitute and scored the third goal, ending any remaining hope Stuttgart had when his spectacular long-range shot went past Alexander Nübel deep in injury time.

Carlo Ancelotti's defending champions looked uncoordinated at times as their star-studded attack took some time to get going, but Madrid fans were able to see their new star striker score on his Champions League debut in the famous white shirt.

Thibaut Courtois had to parry shot after shot as Sebastian Hoeneß's visitors bombarded Madrid's goal, but they lacked the precision needed as the hosts stole the points on Matchday 1.
