When does the 33rd season of “Dancing With The Stars” premiere on ABC and Disney+?

A new season of Dancing with the stars is just around the corner. Read on to find out when DWTS will premiere tonight, along with more details on the celebrity contestants, professional dancers, judges, hosts and more.

Dancing with the stars is ABC's long-running dance competition that premiered in June 2005. Marvel actress Xochitl Gomez and her dance partner Val Chmerkovskiy won the Len Goodman Mirrorball trophy in 2023. This season, a new group of celebrities will take over the ballroom and showcase their dancing skills to America.

On August 22, American Olympic medalist Stephen Nedoroscik, also known as the “Pommel Horse Guy” at the 2024 Paris Olympics, was announced as the first celebrity contestant for season 33. A few weeks later, the full celebrity and professional lineup was announced on Good Morning America. For their first dance on the show, some of the stars will perform dances such as the cha-cha, salsa, foxtrot, tango and jive, according to GMA.

DWTS has seen many changes in recent years, including the hiring of two new presenters and the loss of popular judge Len Goodman, who passed away after retiring in April 2023. DWTS Executive producer Conrad Green told Entertainment Weekly that the show found “a really good groove” in the final season.

“Alfonso [Ribeiro] and Julianne [Hough] are incredible. Our panel was really tight and not replacing Len gives us a little more leeway and we can bring in other people,” the EP explained. “And the way ABC, Disney+ and Hulu are broadcasting the show makes us feel really connected to all the viewers. We're fully in the 21st century.”

Green also hinted at plans to mix things up in the ballroom this season, promising to “surprise” celebrities “in new ways.” He continued, “It's more of an evolution than a revolution… We have some new things planned, but essentially we want to do the show that so many people have watched for generations.”
