Woman arrested after road rage incident involving a car with a child in it

PRINCE GEORGE'S COUNTY, MD — Maryland State Police have arrested a woman who allegedly pointed a gun at a motorist during a road rage incident in Prince George's County late last week.

Brittany Erin Cousar, 37, of Upper Marlboro, was arrested at her home in Prince George's County on Sept. 12. She is charged with two counts of first-degree aggravated assault, assault and weapons offenses. Cousar was granted private house arrest after being held without bail.

A preliminary investigation indicates that Maryland State Police officers from the Forestville Barrack responded to a report of a traffic collision involving a white BMW SUV on Sept. 11. The driver, later identified as Cousar, allegedly pointed a firearm at another driver near Route 5 and Surratts Road. According to Maryland State Police, the driver's child was in the vehicle at the time of the incident.

Investigators located the suspect vehicle at Cousar's home later that day and seized two loaded handguns from that vehicle. During a police interview, Cousar attempted to destroy evidence by smashing her cellphone. She was arrested and taken to Forestville Barrack for processing.
