Kristin Cavallari doesn't hold back.

The mother of three children spoke openly about the painful experience she had with her ex-husband Jay Cutler12-year-old son Camden to play tackle football in middle school.

“It was so emotional,” the 37-year-old, who announced her split from the Chicago Bears star in 2020, said in the September 17 episode of her Let's be honest Podcast. “I actually cried the night before Camden's first game.”

The Very Cavallari Alum, who also has a son Jaxon10, and daughter Saylor8, with Jay, noted that her son is the team's quarterback and is competing against seventh- and eighth-graders who, according to Kristin, are 6'4″ and taller.

It was in Camden’s third game, when he scored his first goals, that the Laguna Beach Alum was moved to tears.

“He took some really bad hits – I'm not going to cry, by the way,” she noted. “He got hit, he flew through the air and he fell really hard. As a mother, I just knew how scared he was after that first hit. And that just upset me even more.”

The founder of Uncommon James wiped tears from her eyes and was surprised by her obvious emotion.

“Oh my God, I really thought I was over all of this,” she said. “The thought of him being out there scared just kills me. It just kills me. More than the physical aspect, obviously I don't want him to get physically hurt, and then he got hit a couple more times. And that was honestly one of the hardest things I had to go through. It's so hard to see your baby get hit.”

And although Kristin noted that the quarterback position is one of the more protected positions on the team, she shared that her son Jaxon also has less secure ambitions in football.

“He said he wanted to be a wide receiver, and I said, 'No,'” Kristin said. “I think football and all those sports are really good for those guys in a lot of ways. I just don't know how to do it.”

Kristin, who speaks openly about the possibility of expanding her family with her current boyfriend Mark Estesalso discussed the conflicting emotions that come with being a parent.

“The hardest thing about being a parent is that your kids are literally little pieces of your heart that are out there in the world getting shit thrown at, getting physically beaten and all of these things. And as moms, we just want to protect our babies,” she said. “The flip side of that is when he plays really well and scores a touchdown and everything, it's just the best feeling in the world and you're so happy for him.”
