Pflugerville middle school student arrested for making terrorist threats

Officials with the Pflugerville Independent School District announced Tuesday that a middle school student was arrested for making terrorist threats against several schools in the district.

The threat, which was widely shared on social media, was deemed not credible, according to the Pflugerville ISD Police Department. However, due to the severity of the offense, the student was arrested and now faces charges.

In a letter to parents, Superintendent Dr. Quintin Shepherd emphasized the seriousness of such threats, explaining that they carry “serious real-life consequences” that go beyond mere pranks or attempts to disrupt school.

“These actions have serious, real consequences,” Shepherd wrote. “In addition to the emotional toll on our community, these threats tie up valuable resources, interrupt learning, and instill a sense of fear among students, staff, and families.”

Those behind these threats will be held accountable and face disciplinary action, including placement in the District's Provan Opportunity Center, as well as criminal prosecution to the fullest extent of the law.

The district urged parents to talk to their children about the serious impact of threats and encouraged them to use the “If You See Something, Say Something” initiative to report concerning behavior.

This incident follows a series of arrests across Central Texas for similar threats against schools in the wake of the recent deadly school shooting in Georgia.

Pflugerville ISD reiterated its commitment to student safety and called on the community to be vigilant in maintaining a safe learning environment.
