Person involved in Ohio shooting arrested

(This story has been updated to add new information.)

A suspect wanted for shooting a homeless man in the leg on or near the Ohio State University campus Monday night was arrested after an extensive manhunt, OSU police confirmed Tuesday night.

Richard Patridge, 31, was charged with aggravated assault in the shooting, Franklin County Municipal Court records show. Columbus police arrested him behind a Target in the 1700 block of Olentangy River Road in Lennox Town Center.

Police also found a handgun near the Olentangy River that probably belonged to Patridge.

Patridge is accused of shooting a homeless man in the leg Monday night near a homeless encampment at the corner of John Herrick Drive and Olentangy Road. The man Patridge allegedly shot told OSU police that Patridge shot him during an argument. The victim, who was naked and bleeding, fled the scene and flagged down a bus to get help.
