‘The View’ releases on-air statement from Anna Delvey’s lawyer amid feud

The view has addressed his ongoing tensions with Anna Delvey – who was convicted in 2019 of defrauding several people out of money after claiming to be a wealthy heiress – after co-host Alyssa Farah Griffin warned others to be wary of Delvey's past “scheming” as the con artist prepares to compete on the internet The view's colleague ABC program Dancing with the stars.

The 35-year-old conservative and former communications official who worked for Donald Trump's White House team ended the live show on Monday by reading a prepared statement on a previous discussion about The view, Griffin claimed that Delvey “still owes people money” and was, in her opinion, still a fraud.

“We recently talked about Anna Delvey, the convicted fraudster, and found that she Dancing with the starsand question the fairness of their participation in the program, as this is an opportunity that most convicted criminals and asylum-seeking immigrants simply do not have,” Griffin said in the final moments of the program, looking directly into the camera.

She continued, “After that discussion, we heard from Ms. Delvey's attorney, who strongly disagreed with our statement that she still owes people money. He argued that that statement falsely suggests that she still owes compensation to her fraud victims, and he provided a document from the Office of Victim Services that he says proves that Ms. Delvey's entire damages have been fully repaid and all victims have been fully compensated.”

Griffin ended the segment by saying to the audience: “We are all looking forward to the new season of Dancing with the starsPremiering tomorrow night here on ABC.”

In response to Griffin’s statement, a representative for Delvey said: Weekly entertainment by email: “We are grateful that The view has corrected her false and defamatory statements about Ms. Delvey. Like so many others, Anna has made mistakes and, most importantly, she has made amends by both serving her prison sentence and fully repaying all of her debts. Anna deserves a second chance and accepts The view's apology.”

EW also contacted representatives of Dancing with the stars and the New York Office of Victim Services for comment.

On the Sept. 6 broadcast, Griffin claimed that Delvey “still owes people money and scammers tend to be scammers, so I would just say if you're around her, I would be cautious of any schemes she might be cooking up” as the panel analyzed the Season 33 cast of contestants who will compete. DWTS.

During the conversation, Goldberg also said of Russian-born Delvey: “I don't understand why she's allowed to stay in the United States,” because “I listen to people complaining about what's happening at the border, and I listen to people complaining about all these people who shouldn't be here, what the hell, man? How does that work?”

In response, Delvey issued a statement to PageSix.

“While you are entitled to your own opinion, you should at least get the facts,” she told the outlet. “I have served my time and paid everyone back in full over three years ago. I look forward to your correction on the show. Keep being mean, ladies, but don't forget to vote. [for me on DWTS on] 17th September!”

The view The co-hosts' previous analysis stemmed from Delvey's guilty verdict of stealing over $200,000, with the scammer telling others she was an heiress from Germany. She was sentenced to four to 12 years in prison and served less than four years until her release in February 2021.
