Chattooga County drug dealer sentenced to 30 years in prison without parole

A Chattooga County, Georgia man has been sentenced to 30 years in prison without the possibility of parole for drug trafficking, according to a statement from the Lookout Mountain Judicial Circuit District Attorney's Office.

Larry Dale Dooley is a five-time convicted felon who was arrested during an undercover operation.

“This indictment is emblematic of the Lookout Mountain District Attorney's commitment to fighting the opioid epidemic by taking drug dealers and traffickers off our streets,” the statement said.

The Lookout Mountain judicial district includes Catoosa, Chattooga, Dade and Walker counties.

Last month, Dooley was found guilty by a jury of meth trafficking and possession of meth with the intent to resell.

Brian Tucker, deputy chief of the Lookout Mountain Drug Task Force, turned two minor drug users into informants, the statement said.

The informants called Dooley at the direction of the task force agents, and Dooley agreed to sell them an ounce of meth. The agents followed the informants closely to Dooley's home, the statement said.

As they pulled into his driveway, Dooley got into the back seat of her car with a stainless steel cup in his hand. Tucker turned on his hazard lights after Dooley and the informants drove off and turned onto Georgia Route 48, the statement said.

Dooley then threw a digital scale out of the car, the statement said. Once the car stopped, agents surrounded the car with guns drawn. Dooley desperately tried to hide his glass and violently resisted arrest, the statement said.

After searching the back seat, Tucker found 75 grams of meth hidden in Dooley's cup, the statement said.
