Paxton man arrested for distributing ‘child sexual abuse material’ | News

PAXTON – A local man has been charged with possessing and distributing explicit images of children.

Illinois State Police arrested Brett M. Sorensen, 37, of Paxton on Tuesday for “distribution of child sexual abuse material.” He is being held in Ford County pending arraignment.

The ISP began investigating the case after receiving a cyber tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.

“Preliminary facts gathered during the initial investigation led to the issuance of an arrest warrant for Sorensen,” ISP officials said.

In addition to Sorensen's arrest, ISP Zone 5 Criminal Investigation also executed a search warrant on a residence on Tuesday.

Anyone with information about the case is asked to contact Ford County Crime Stoppers at 217-379-2109. Anonymous tips regarding child sexual abuse material can also be reported through the NCMEC CyberTipline at cybertipline.com.

The ongoing investigation is a joint effort of the Illinois Attorney General's Office Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force, Ford County Sheriff's Office, Paxton Police Department, Ford County District Attorney's Office and ISP.
