Join Patrick Dempsey in Maine and fight cancer

This Saturday, September 21st, the 16th annual Dempsey Challenge will take place in Lewiston. Yes, that Dempsey. For the past 15 years, Patrick Dempsey and the community have come together to help cancer patients.

This year's Dempsey Challenge marks 16 years of improving the lives of cancer patients. Come together on this meaningful day to give, honor and celebrate 16 years of free comfort, connection, compassion and choice for cancer patients, their families, care partners and survivors.

How to get involved at the last minute for the Dempsey Challenge in Maine

Although the event is only three days away, you can already register and participate in the numerous challenges that raise funds for the Dempsey Center.

You can also donate to help reach this year's goal of $2 million! So far, nearly $1.5 million has been raised. Every dollar raised goes directly to caring for and supporting cancer patients.

Since its founding in 2009 by actor and philanthropist Patrick Dempsey, the Dempsey Challenge has raised over $18 million for the Dempsey Center. 2022 was a record year, raising $1.6 million, and this year's event is on track to break that record.

You can participate virtually if the short notice is too much for you to make it to Lewiston this Saturday. If you can come in person, you'll have several options to participate in the challenge when you register.

Participants can choose from a variety of events, from a 5K run/walk, a 10, 25, 50 or 65 mile bike race or the 25-mile event where participants must run 4.5 miles and cycle 21.5 miles to reach the finish line at the Festival in the Park. Island cleanup campaign by the Maine Island Trail Association and the Surfrider Foundation
