PFL heavyweight Daniel James suspended again due to failed doping test

Heavyweight Daniel James has been banned again due to a doping test.

PFL anti-doping partner USADA announced a 10-month suspension for James (15-7-1) after he tested positive for bis-(4-cyanophenyl)methanol, a metabolite of letrozole, in an out-of-competition doping test on May 8.

James, 42, has already been suspended three times for failing drug tests since the start of 2022. The two previous violations came from Bellator's independent drug tests conducted by Mike Mazzulli, president of the Association of Boxing and Combat Sports Commissions (ABC), so this violation was not considered a secondary or tertiary offense.

In April 2022, James was removed from a fight against Davion Franklin due to an undisclosed banned substance. In 2023, James' November 2022 win was annulled due to the discovery of a banned anabolic substance.

James last competed in April, when he defeated Marcelo Golm with punches. He didn't make enough weight for the fight. He was then scheduled to face Tyrell Fortune again in June, but canceled the fight for unknown reasons.
