According to the National Weather Service (NWS), Beaufort County will experience light coastal flooding today and into tomorrow morning.

There is a risk of flooding of 12 to 36 inches near water bodies. The highest water levels are in Beaufort County, and the Pamlico, Bay and Neuse rivers are affected.

“Low-lying areas along the water may be inundated,” the NWS reports, so some roads may be impassable.

Wave heights of up to 30 cm are expected along the Pamlico and Pungo rivers.

Residents should prepare for possible tornadoes across Eastern North Carolina this evening.

According to the NWS, winds of up to 23 mph are expected in the Belhaven area. Winds of up to 29 mph are expected in Greenville. Isolated power outages are expected.
