Pembroke girl dies after car crash in Duxbury

A teenager from Pembroke died in an accident in Duxbury over the weekend.

Duxbury police said officers were dispatched to Harrison Street shortly after midnight Saturday for a report of a vehicle that had struck a tree.

When they arrived, they found the driver, a 17-year-old girl who was later identified by PTO from Hobomock when Maddie Straub was unresponsive and had to be rescued from the vehicle using rescue shears.

Medical assistance was provided on site and she was flown by rescue helicopter to Massachusetts General Hospital.

Duxbury police said they were informed Monday evening that she had succumbed to her injuries.

The incident remains under investigation.

Pembroke Youth Baseball & Softball announce they will hold a candlelight vigil for Straub on Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. at the Mattakeesett Fields next to the Snack Shack.
