By David Leavitt

APD chief

On September 13, 2024 at 12:51 a.m., a passing taxi driver reported a burglary at the Mission Store, 203 Box Butte Ave. The caller reported that the south entrance door had been forced open and a person wearing a black hoodie entered the building. Officers arrived at the scene within two minutes and noticed piles of clothing and jewelry scattered on the floor.

While APD officers searched the building for suspects, Trooper Michael Nutsch, who had heard the burglary call, combed the area. Trooper Nutsch found three suspects nearby in the parking lot of the Alliance Grocery Kart.

All three suspects were in possession of items stolen in the burglary, and in fact there was a trail of items leading from the Mission Store to the suspects' location. Andrew Flye, married, born 03/25/93, Julian Poor Bear, married, married, born 02/01/91, and Jacob Zier, married, married, born 09/03/91, were all charged with serious crimes including burglary, criminal damage, and possession of stolen property.

Thanks to a quick response and coordinated efforts by the Alliance Police Department and the Nebraska State Patrol, all property has been returned to the Mission Store and the suspects will be held accountable for their actions.
