Northeast Oregon counties take different approaches to diversion | Local news

BAKER CITY — If Baker County wasn't the first of Oregon's 36 counties to implement a new state law designed to encourage people to seek treatment for drug addiction, it was a close call.

The new law allowing counties to implement “diversion programs” went into effect on September 1.
