TUESDAY

Tuesday will see a small break in the weather after Monday's rain showers and cooler temperatures. The first system will leave the region, so we'll have clear skies and warmer temperatures between 25 and 27 degrees. Still well below average, but not as cool as Monday.

WEDNESDAY

When the second system arrives mid-week, temperatures will drop back to 21 degrees in the afternoon. On Wednesday, the chance of showers will also be greater and more widespread.

At this point, rain will begin to fall in the Sierra, with widespread showers and snow up to 8,000 feet. This system will not be as cold and will bring mostly rain to the Sierra. At elevation, we should get at least 0.25-0.50 inches of rain.

Clouds will build up early in valley areas, and occasional showers are possible during the day. The most likely time for persistent, light rain will be in the evening after sunset, but this is subject to change. Rainfall amounts should be very light, less than 0.10 inches. Keep an eye on the forecast.

THURSDAY

The second storm system will exit the region on Thursday, ending the cooler and more unsettled weather pattern.

Until the valley leaves the area, brief northerly winds are possible on Thursday morning and into the early afternoon.

Temperatures will rise slowly, starting on Thursday afternoon with temperatures between 27 and 30 degrees. Temperatures will be above 30 degrees again at the weekend.

Sunday is the first official day of fall and temperatures will be around 92 degrees. Monday will be back in the mid-90s. Enjoy the weather changes this week.

FRIDAY

Temperatures continue to rise and it will be sunny. Highs in the valley are expected to be in the upper 30s, which is average for this time of year. The Sierra will also be sunny with temperatures in the 15s. It will warm up well into the weekend, and temperatures will climb back into the 30s on Sunday, the first day of fall. The 30s will remain for most of next week.
