Trial date for the battle for the party chairmanship of Colorado and Dave Williams

The ongoing leadership dispute within Colorado's Republican Party could finally come to an end in a three-day trial scheduled for mid-October.

In August, long-simmering tensions in the state Republican Party reached a head when rival factions organized competing votes on whether to oust Dave Williams as party chairman. One faction voted overwhelmingly to oust Williams and replace him with former Olympian and U.S. Senate candidate Eli Bremer.

A week later, the other faction voted overwhelmingly to keep Williams in office.

Under Williams, the party experienced turmoil and division over anti-LGBTQ+ messages and the use of state party resources to support certain candidates in primaries, including Williams' own failed run for Congress.
