Sanders will not be punished for alleged training incident

TMZ sparked an online storm on Monday after it published court documents from Gabriella Sanders, the divorced wife of Emmanuel Sanders who claimed, among other things, that the Denver Broncos receiver intentionally skipped practice to go partying.

But it looks like nothing else will come of it.

Although the Broncos decided not to comment on the story, Eric Goodman of Mile High Sports Radio reported that the team was not concerned and did not intend to discipline Sanders.

Additionally, a source told Troy Renck from Denver7 Sanders was “transparent” about his absence, which was excused at the time, and he has the support of the Broncos.

The incident in question occurred on Nov. 21, just before Denver's Week 12 home game against the Kansas City Chiefs, when Sanders asked for a time off from practice to fly to Houston for the birth of his child. Gabriella Sanders claimed that was a lie and that Emmanuel wanted to celebrate instead.

Gabriella, who filed for divorce, also accused Sanders of committing adultery on multiple occasions and “spending thousands and thousands of dollars on girlfriends.” She says there is no chance of reconciliation.

“When he is not on the field playing football, he is 'playing on the field' with numerous women with whom he has committed or is committing adultery,” she claimed in Texas court documents.

Coincidentally (or not), Sanders had his best performance of the season this week against the Chiefs, catching seven passes for 162 yards (the game's most) and a touchdown in Denver's 30-27 overtime loss.

Sanders, who signed a three-year, $33 million contract extension last September, finished the 2016 season with 79 catches for 1,032 yards and five touchdowns, earning him a Pro Bowl nomination for the second time in his career.

Gabriella and Emmanuel have two children together.
