Teenager arrested after fleeing accident scene in Mexico

Police arrested a 17-year-old boy for allegedly driving his car into a power pole and driving away on Tuesday morning.

According to a press release from Mexico's Ministry of Public Security, police received a call about an accident in which a vehicle left the road and struck a pole in the 1700 block of East Liberty Street around 7 a.m. Witnesses described the vehicle and police stopped a Chrysler Sebring in the area of ​​Boulevard and Huntington Drive.

Officers released the teen to a parent and turned the case over to juvenile authorities. The teen is charged with leaving the scene of an accident, driving under the influence, possession of alcohol while underage, possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia, and careless driving, police said.

Nobody was injured.
