Auburn man found guilty of double murder

AUBURN (WGME) — An Auburn man has been found guilty of killing a Massachusetts man and a Lewiston teenager in a home in Poland.

According to the Sun Journal, a jury took less than two hours on Tuesday to find 47-year-old Aaron Aldrich guilty.

Aldrich shot and killed 16-year-old Mohamed Aden of Lewiston and 21-year-old Shoeb Mohamed Adan of Springfield, Massachusetts, in February 2023.

According to Maine State Police, the victims were found dead during a welfare check at a home on Tripp Lake Road in Poland.

Aden was a student at Lewiston High School.

During the trial, Aldrich claimed he killed the two in self-defense. However, according to the Sun Journal, prosecutors alleged that Aldrich targeted his victims to kill and rob them. Aldrich reportedly bragged about his actions afterward.

Aldrich could face a sentence of 25 years to life in prison for each count.

The verdict is expected in November.
