Arrest in connection with threats against schools in Crothersville

Due to threats received, there is currently a heavy police presence at Crothersville Community Schools.

According to a press release issued by Sergeant Stephen Wheeles shortly after 11am today, a person believed to be responsible for the threats is currently in custody.

Wheeles, spokesman for the Indiana State Police Post in Versailles, said school buildings have been evacuated as a precaution while police clear the buildings. Students will be sent home for the rest of the day.

Wheeles said parents have the option to pick up their children or they may be sent home by bus. They were advised to call the school at 812-793-2601 for more information.

He said media questions about the incident may be directed to him and that more information would be released later this afternoon.

Crothersville Police are leading the investigation with assistance from Indiana State Police investigators. The Jackson County Sheriff's Office and Indiana State Excise Police also assisted in evacuating the buildings.
