Fatal accident involving construction worker near Wessington, SD | State news

{KXLG – Wessington, SD} A construction worker was killed in a two-vehicle crash on U.S. Highway 14 near Wessington, South Dakota on Tuesday, September 17.^thapproximately 12:55pm at mile 319.

According to the South Dakota Highway Patrol, a 27-year-old man was driving a 2022 Dodge Ram westbound through a construction zone when he stopped at the direction of a construction zone marshal. A 47-year-old man driving a 2023 International MV607 collided with the Dodge, causing it to strike the marshal.

The construction worker, whose identity was not disclosed, suffered fatal injuries. Both drivers involved in the accident suffered minor injuries and were taken to a local hospital.

The South Dakota Highway Patrol is investigating the incident. Additional details are expected to be released as the investigation progresses.
